Foundation Mechanics is my theory of complex system self-organization in nature. A complex system is one composed of many different interacting elements, whose singular characteristics are; 1) the systems lose their major features when parts are isolated for study, 2) the systems are highly history dependent, so that it is extremely difficult to make comparisons or tease out representative behavior, and 3) they operate far from equilibrium or a global optimum. My wife and I create technology and products that apply Foundation Mechanics to intractable high fidelity predictive modeling of complex systems challenges.

Though I Am Considered An Expert In Firearms, Edged Weapons And Many Other Types Of Weapons Such As Native American War Clubs, My Desire Is Toward Only The Older Firearms Genre Such As The Kentucky Longrifle. I Don't Use Optical Sights For My Own Weapons And Prefer 44 Magnum Single Action Revolvers, Flint Lock Weapons And Large Bore Dangerous Game Bolt Action Rifles, All With Minimal Iron Leaf Sights, (Or Nothing). The Rifle Bullet Calibers I Use Are 375 H&H Magnum And The 458 Caliber Rifle Bullet. I Have A Preference For These Two Calibers And Shoot Them Well. I Have Considered A 416 Remington Magnum Cartridge But Believe It Is An In Between Round, Which I Don't Need And My Way Is To Not Retain Weapons, Or Anything Else, Beyond What I Really Need. My life with Lisa is to challenge conventional wisdom and create paradigm shifts in science and technology. In so doing we generate novel Intellectual Property (IP), which is how we make a living, (we have done other risky, sometimes wild work as I will detail on this site too), and personally live life interestingly. A paradigm shift is, according to Thomas Kuhn, a change in the basic assumptions (i.e. the conventional wisdom), or paradigms, within the ruling theory of science (or anything for that matter). This is in contrast to normal science, which is the routine work conducted by the majority of scientists as they work and experiment within a paradigm, where they slowly accumulate detail in accord with established broad theory and practice, where they do not challenge or attempt to test the underlying assumptions of the the existing established broad theory. According to Kuhn, normal science possesses a built in mechanism that ensures its continuation. Normal science does this by its practitioners relaxing the restrictions that bound the research and engineering whenever the paradigm from which it derives ceases to function effectively.
Our life style is not for the timid or for those who dwell on what they think can not be done or accomplished, i.e. you can tell the pioneers by the arrows sticking out of their back. My wife Lisa says “If it can be thought it can be achieved” and she is correct as I and she have repeatedly demonstrated. As an example I have made a living designing novel compounds and creating disruptive novel computational methods to design them. In contrast ask an industry computational chemist if he makes his living based on the novel compounds he discovers and he will say NO. Note that I like to use imagery, sound, video and film for broad band communication. Broad band communication is defined here as the transmission of information through a narrow channel with maximum message information content. The channel here is communicating messages to the human mind through the relatively narrow channel of words. Imagery, sound, film and video enhance message transmission, i.e. the majority of the human brain is devoted to processing imagery and sound. Therefore information transmission is greatly enhanced through a narrow-channel by communication with imagery, sound, video and film. Information I communicate takes this broad band information form, which is different than the usual definition of broad band communication, i.e. basically fat channels. Here the channel is relatively narrow but information transmission through the channel is very wide.
While on the subject, I do not believe in using YouTube because it has become a totally uncontrolled medium for horrendous and vile comments. YouTube has become the skid row of the Internet in my opinion, i.e. just as like Microsoft is to computation, YouTube is to online content, mostly trash. Many YouTube videos demonstrate total human dilapidation.
Correspondingly social networking is technology in transition as the privacy issues are fully violated. This is why I don’t participate heavily on social networks, i.e. they are transitory. I prefer my own site that I control, rather than others censoring, controlling and leveraging my content. Particularly disturbing is the politically correct censorship the social network sights all promote. Insidious censorship of words like “gun” in discussions for example is reason enough to ignore these hypocritical, privacy violating, exploitative social networks.
